Below Shepherd's Hill

March 19th, 2015 — March 31st, 2015

This self-curated exhibition is an investigation of motives and motifs that echo from a childhood accident. I bear witness to my experience through painting just as the paintings themselves become material witnesses. They carry the history of their creation embedded in layers of paint. Using forensic imaging techniques, like x-rays and infrared I can look back through the surface of the painting. The resulting photographs reveal hidden information, both intentional and accidental. They serve as a reminder that what I see on the surface is both a consequence of the past and far from the complete truth. Exhibition was installed at the Russell Industrial Center, Detroit, MI.
